NLP and Hypnosis - The Power of the Subconscious Mind - Who Is in Control?

Different theories have emerged through the centuries about the mind and its phenomena. Let's talk for a moment about the two parts of the mind: the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. Do you really know who is in control? If you're reading this article and you're someone who absolutely loves to be in total control of your life, prepare for a shock.

The conscious mind represents only 10% of your mind power. It controls your life when you concentrate. In this way you can say that you control your life, when you concentrate and focus on what you want and you do whatever it takes to get it.

But when you do that, you often fight another part of you, the subconscious mind that is full of programs, or habits. (Habits are just patterns that we follow that are most often been programmed in the first 12 years of our lives)

The subconscious mind represents 90% of your mind power. It controls your life when you're in a state of relaxation or in a state of agitation.

The subconscious mind controls your life 90% of the time for several reasons. First, because most of the time you're in a relaxed state, like when you watch TV, when you just woke up, when you're daydreaming, and other 200 times of the day when you're in a hypnosis state.

Second, the subconscious mind controls your life 90% of the time because we follow habits, these programs that we learned and that are stored in our subconscious mind: like dressing, driving, brushing your teeth, lighting up a cigarette, watching TV etc.

When you're in an agitated state, like a state of frustration, anger, stress, fear or phobia, your subconscious mind takes control and put on the program that you learned through many years of experience to cope with the situation.

There are many neuro linguistic programming techniques that help change habits in just a few minutes. The perfect example is the "phobia cure" technique. The subject will experience a change in his emotions and physiology in just 5 minutes and the reaction to the phobia would have totally changed. Instead of fear, the "phobia cure" technique replaces it with calm.

So, who's in control now? Certainly not you for the most part. But the good news is you can take control of your subconscious mind, you can change your habits and programs by being aware of the programs that you don't want and finding a way to replace them by something you want. Only you can decide. After all, you're in control, aren't you?
